I'd also add that calling women "girls" is patronizing. It undermines our technical credibility because the word refers to a group of children. You wouldn't refer to a group of men as "boys".

Nitpicking here by I think it’s ok to say female speaker or male speaker. It’s when you call women just females that it sounds wrong.

In french we only use female when referring to animals, when referring to humans we use the word feminine
