Firefox does this because otherwise most users wouldn't restart for a while?
This is by far the thing I hate the most about @Firefox
If a background update is installed then you can't create any new tabs without restarting. This happens a lot.pic.twitter.com/6WWZwRW7UZ

and plenty of times "Restart Firefox" doesn't actually restart, it just closes.

If your largest gripe with Firefox is that you have to take 5s to click "Restart" and have all your tabs re-open automagically, I'd say that's a pretty big win. Something something Rome something something Day.
