For the last few years I’ve been strongly swaying from “monolith tools” to “plugin everything”. I don’t think either approach is actually sustainable. Likely need something that’s a mix. Not sure what it would look like though.

What if you had a single tool with a whole bunch of features and a system of downloadable modules you could activate via run-time scripts?
Having to assemble JavaScript legos just to get basic tooling working is one of the pillars of JavaScript Fatigue and makes it less accessible.

I definitely agree that getting tooling to work together seamlessly is way too much work right now.
