I think this was well written. He made a mistake. He’s trying to make amends. Let’s leave it at that. I believe the most recent apology was much more sincere.

Maybe sincere was the wrong word. Trust can only be gained back from proving that a lesson was learned. I guess we’ll have to wait and see whether it holds true!

mocking someone for putting out an apology isn't helpful: it doesn't help him understand why his original response was wrong, and it doesn't help outsiders understand why this issue is important because it will seem to them that you just don't like the guy.
