Totally unsure. Think they could help as long as they stay out of runtime but idk how that's supposed to work. Warnings maybe but I don't think that adds more value than current situation.

python 3 has in-language type annotations that are currently pretty difficult to inspect, with the understanding that you use outside static tooling to analyze them as a linting step (practically w/ mypy). Works OK!
