      Cold cache. The time includes: - Node initialization overhead of 4 processes - A full crawl of the file system - Message passing overhead between processes - Parsing, linting, autofixing and formatting of EVERY file

      You'd just incur the 23ms for the single file. The cache is file-specific. I went into some more detail in this thread:https://twitter.com/sebmck/status/1108483365479444480 …

      Also more context on what is actually being “memory cached”: Only the formatted code and errors for each file are cached. We are still computing all the possible files, filtering them with globs, talking to the workers to get their cached value, and printing it all.

          It has it's own memory file system. It's seeded and watched with Node's http://fs.watch , could easily use watchman though. There's no preemptive cache warming with watching though. It's entirely for eviction of in-memory caches.
