YouTube's UI is still built with Polymer 1. They did test with Polymer 2 but they're kinda... stuck at v1 to this day

I think it's because they don't heavily use them in production. On the other hand, Facebook uses React *everywhere* and always runs a dev build. Because of that, the React team need to have a good migration plan (eg. codemods) so things keep working.

I was replying to the mentions of Angular specifically. Also I get the feeling that each Google property is quite isolated and can have their own old library versions. If they all use an old version forever, who's testing the upgrade plans for newer versions at scale?
