jest-worker is a nice wrapper for both. Check out the Jest repo for the isssues we ran into with worker threads.
Considering dumping child_process.fork in favour of worker_threads, any current disadvantages?

It's harder to get per-worker perf metrics, and obviously, you lose support for older Node versions.
