Have you seen the element inspector we built for @flipper_fb?
It removes a lot of the decoration around an element, in favor of showing very specific props (I believe this is mostly possible because of the way native view libraries work). Here's a screenshot taken from the docs. cc @danielbuechele https://fbflipper.com/docs/layout-plugin.html …pic.twitter.com/3UoTjX0OO8
Looks pretty similar to what I'm picturing the React DevTools could look like!
Not saying you should do this, but it should be fairly straightforward to build an adapter to make Flipper work with React.
Really? React DevTools need to do a lot more than just the elements+props pane (e.g. profiler, hooks integration)
Flipper is just a desktop app with a communication channel with a host device. You can do whatever processing on the device and then send it over in the standardised format and it will be displayed. There's also delineated APIs for all the other plugins too.
Hmm... maybe I'm still misunderstanding how this could work. React DevTools need to run as a browser extension as well (with tighter DOM integration than a standalone app would have).
Happy to chat about this face-to-face if you'd like to grab a tea or something :)
