Remote control becomes more difficult. But then the cloud service could just be a dumb bridge from the internet to your LAN.
Only thing I can think of is it forces you to maintain a live connection to them. You’re unable to use it as a traditional smart home device which integrates your home devices but is disconnected from the outside world. They’d lose access to you (if you wanted) #ethicalCS
