After spending hours trying to get certbot and Let's Encrypt to work, and messing with Python dependency hell, I'm ready to just call it a day and buy a cheap SSL cert.

The real question is why you need to be security conscious enough to need an SSL cert, but not enough to get a proper host. Your ISP probably won’t let you handle any real traffic volume anyways. Might as well just throw it up on Zeit Now for free lol

Because I want to learn? How is hosting my own server security unconscious? I have a gigabit connection so I think I'll be fine serving hundreds of kilobytes of HTML :) Thanks for your concern though
