Isn't this super normal for somewhat desirable cities, just that the bay area multiplies everything by a constant factor greater 1? There are some interesting factors deriving from the finely grained racially segregated East Bay.

I’m deriving this just from personal experience. I’ve only lived in very dense cities before (London and Sydney), where I’ve never been able to move 10 minutes further out and receive a lot more value.

Gonna commute in every day? My struggle is always money vs commute

Moving specifically to Fremont. It’s only a 15ish minute drive with no traffic. Facebook is at one end of the Dumbarton Bridge and our new place is on the other. So I’ll have it super easy.

I did the same thing, bought a 3 story house with a huge back yard in Temescal... that I’m selling to move into a one bedroom apartment in the city bc east bay traffic is a nightmare every hour of every day.
