Re: Hooks relying on global mutable state. This is an implementation detail. They wouldn’t _have to_ rely on mutation in a language that supports algebraic effects. Each useState call would raise a State effect, resumed recursively by a pure function above. JS doesn’t have that.
I wonder if people realise that string refs also relied on global mutable state as an implementation detail too.
