Samsung uses Blink, but backports new features from latest Blink release to theirs current in the browser. They update blink itself just a several time a year.

Safari and Chrome both run on WebKit and yet there’re a lot of differences in how they render html+css.

Chrome does not use webkit. It was formed as Blink years ago and is significantly different to webkit today.

I think it's easier to relate with browser versions rather than engine versions, and
@Browserslist does great job standardizing that. Maybe something even lower that that which translates to Browserslist? Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Sometimes browsers turn on experimental features of the engine, eg. Opera had OffscreenCanvas enabled well before Chrome did https://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5681560598609920 …

Really agree, certainly how I frame things - engine+version. Lots of folk seem to be confused about iOS in particular. Basically, only one browser. During WorldCup tech discussions on issues we where having this seemed to surprise many folks "But, Chrome is OK on android!". Yep:)

I'm assuming maybe, we would also have to specify the JS engine along with rendering engine.

IMO People can relate to/understand a browser more. It’s all about making the concept understandable to clients/stakeholders as well as developers and designers.
