      This happened for me too on my personal Mac. I never managed to fix it. I could boot into the actual partition though by holding alt when starting up and explicitly selecting my main boot partition. I think it's something to do with the startup disk being incorrectly set.

          My work MacBook has gotten into a corrupt disk state 3x because of botched updates. Hoping you find a way to access the HD!!

          Good thing git is distributed right? Srsly that sucks. You can prob get it restored by a specialist. I once got bad sectors in the partition table and it looked just like that. Was anle to restore data by manually mucking about and creating a new table. (I was 16 time was free)
