99% of the time I see usage of Array.prototype.some and Array.prototype.reduce, it would have been much more readable with a manual loop.

I prefer #2, but I agree that this requires knowledge on functional programming in JS, and that may confuse a lot of people. That’s an interesting discussion right there
I'm not sure I buy the argument that it requires knowledge of functional programming to not be confusing. I'm pretty aware of functional programming concepts and use a lot of them.

I think #2 is more readable if you're used to seeing .some a whole lot. A .some or .every sets the context in my brain for what to expect next which saves a bit of mental effort in understanding the rest of the code. "Readability" is half familiarity and half personal preference.
