Speak simply with arguments that cast doubt on their argument. People that read this are unlikely to privilege a complicated response that they don't understand when a previous one was easily invalidated.

Also, draw attention to the unnecessary complication and sophistry, but realise that whatever you say it might not be listened to if people want to believe something else for ideological reasons.

Hm, thinking this through another approach might be to respond with further sophistry yourself but dressed up as a specific technical complaint. "IYI you are failing to consider fat tails! [Start spouting mathematics]" This will make *both* of you look like bullshitters though.
