Fintech companies are fundamentally unable to innovate because they are ultimately traditional and not willing to read up on ideas from accountancy, or learn from other cultures and paradigms.

This is apparent when you see how all make the Bank Account the first-class abstraction by which consumers must manually organise their money. It is both slow to create/remove, integrated with the outside world, and without the necessary semantics to automatically manage money.

Both product and UX people lack the perspective necessary to rethink consumer finance. Almost all are trapped with only UI thinking - wondering what colour the account cards should be, what emojjis to use or whether to implement a chatbot.
