“I just read Atlas Shrugged.” > Isn’t Rand’s writing so juvenile? “I just re-read Harry Potter for the fifth time.” > So good, right!?

It’s not just Rand’s writing that’s juvenile (+inelegant +uninspired) - it’s the concepts and emotions underpinning her entire “philosophy”. She caters to our ugliest instincts + insecurities. That said, liking Rand and growing out of it is a good developmental practice.

Nobody says this about superhero movies. Nobody says this about Nietzsche. A bunch of art and philosophy contains characters that transcend their world or fight bad systems. People dislike Rand and her books because she was pro-capitalism and not "caring" enough for a woman.

Superhero movies are about ppl w extra-ordinary abilities helping the powerless, the exact opposite of Rand. Nietzsche was a multi-faceted and nuanced thinker (unlike Rand), but the “selfish” aspects of his work are criticized, especially as they were co-opted by literally Hitler

Rand is about creative thinkers toppling rent-seekers.
