Wondering if substituting “offensive” with “in poor taste” in my subjective opinions would make them less flame-baity.

Both are inherently subjective. Yet arguing with latter seems silly. Everyone agrees poor taste is subjective but it still exists.

The point isn't for everyone to reach a consensus. People don't. (See music.) People change opinions too. Subcultures see it differently.

The point is to participate in discussion and learn we're different. Authors choose to apply or ignore opinions. We choose what to read.

When we're talking about taste, we've agreed not to debate it as objective truth. Would be cool if "offensive" was treated the same.

Perhaps reimagined how particular foods are offensive to some people's tastes.
