Austen. What on earth is your motivation with this tweet right now? There were so many other journalists and people trying to make the case that this was going to be a huge problem. Why would you peg an entire industry to a bad Recode article?

Do you not realize people took this seriously and came under life-threatening danger as a result? Not all journalists, but these journalists in particular, are a real threat to the health and safety of their readers, and haven’t owned up to it.

your other deleted response was better. why not get specific with this being about Recode? there are so many journalists out there, right now, who will likely lose their lives trying to cover this story and get information out.

also, I am really having a hard time finding what exactly is so damning and dangerous about this article. It reads pretty evenly to me, and I really can't find the perceived "swipes at techbros" that seem to have confirmed all of Balaji's anti-media ranting

This is obvious sneering at tech people for bringing attention to the pandemic that occured around this period of time:https://twitter.com/RMac18/status/1225182475346821121?s=20 …

oh I'm not saying "sneering at tech ppl doesn't happen" What I am saying is: he claims that this article by this reporter was going to be a hit piece before it was published. and it... isn't?

What I mean is that the articles have to be read within the context of the sneering on social media at the time.
