That argument would have more force if Johnson hadn't taken a 16 day holiday & disappeared for 3 weeks in the middle of the emergency planning period

Of course, but that latter phrase is still absurd and unhelpful. Patrick Vallance and Chris Whitty are not inconsiderable minds in this. No one has found a way to prevent the crisis.

What they've done is hit pause. The virus is now all over the world and anybody that hasn't had it before is susceptible. Don't think that shutting everything down for a few months is a permanent solution.
