hot take but i don't think years spent coding = experience. some coders are in fail fast fail often environments where they learn years worth of tech stacks in months. others spend decades using the same language with the same ~100 functions. years aren't an accurate measurement
i completely agree that 'years' aren't the criteria of 'experience' but companies aren't ignorant via job description: at scale and generally speaking people that have worked for a long time have 'experience'.
