I didn't talk down to you. I responded to you.

"Google "toxic masculinity self-care" if you don't think this is a well known problem."

I wrote that because you asked me "who said that?" And I don't want to explain something that has been explained better by others.

Who said they were upset because he left? Like I said, that was not the reason for the backlash.

Let me be very clear. Self care is not the issue here. Instead of saying "Yikes. I am not a white supremacist and I will never use that hand gesture again." he deactivated his account leaving people like me to wonder. That was wrong.

Self-care is *an* issue here. There can be multiple issues. If he's feeling anxious or depressed he shouldn't berate himself for taking time off.

That's not why people were upset. He chose not to make his message clear before leaving. He can take all the self care time he needs just like everyone else.

My point is: it upsets me *personally* that he's acting like it is wrong in any way for him to take a time out, because this is not good for men or others around them. I agree that there was a lack of clarity and how that was troublesome. But there are other voices saying that.

Okay. Well your voice needs to say it too. Because what it looks like is you're not upset about what looked like white supremacy, but are upset about a white guy feeling bad about taking time for self care.

I'm upset that it looked in any way like white supremacy to anybody.
