I’m sorry for disappearing for the last few days. I’ve been getting progressively more anxious over the weekend. I’m of no use to this community in that state. I feel much better now, and I’m here to listen. As always, my DMs are open. I will post more soon.

Deactivating was a desperate and petty thing to do in my position. There were other ways to force a break that I should have gone for. I can’t run from reality. As a white man in tech, I’m immensely privileged to be able to get back on here without receiving a barrage of abuse.

Please don't accept the opinion that because you're a man and because you're white you don't have worthy emotional needs. Anxiety and depression are terrible and affect people from many walks of life. Suicide is the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45.

We're socialised from a young age to look strong, hide our suffering and not ask for help. We have emotional wellbeings too, and need to look after ourselves.

He implied that he felt that way by discounting his personal need for self-care because of his position in society. I never said that anybody had said this. I explained that there's a global conversation about how men internalise an expectation of not needing self-care.
