It isn't as black and white. Also rewrites can mean, starting from scratch and building with the old or new code fragments as necessary. This kind of refactor happens all the time, although gradually and over a long time.
Firefox did this a few years back and the result was 💜

Last week I got a chance to chat with about the future of web animation at #fsf2019 and it was just wonderful.
Did you know SVG is hardware accelerated in Firefox but not in Chrome? #conferenceinsider

Browser deal differently with #svg stroke caps when the path has length zero.
Chrome does not show the caps.
Firefox, Edge and Safari show the caps on both ends of the original path.

animation-play-state demos don’t work in Firefox/Edge; culprit is missing event parameter:

I tried loading the latest build from github with web-ext - it's probably not working on Firefox?
(It's late here, so it's possible maybe I might have done something wrong)

I automate everything, my whole Linux desktop is provisioned using Ansible, even things like Firefox profiles and plugins. This allows me to document my setup and can bootstrap from scratch. Also all my projects are running in containers, so I don't need to install deps manually

I've resorted to multiple browsers:
- chromium/firefox: development
- stack: docs, email, discord, slack, etc... (all, always open)
- safari: actual browsing, googling, stack overflow, etc...
gotta say this is still more performant on my machine than a single browser
