    Yet another SFH by me that closed above the already outlandish asking price just resurfaced as a rental. Clearly a cash sale to an investor as it's for rent ~3 weeks after it changed from For Sale to Pending. Ban the sale of SFH homes to corporations and implement rent control.

    Any person or family should be able to buy any house they can afford. A corporation should not,especially when they're using them for rental property, keeping families out of the market...and often lowering property values in areas they buy. They go back to their million $ homes

    The examples of 'institutional investors' referenced in this report operate between 96 - 800 units. I'd call that a 'medium-sized rental corporation', not an 'institutional investor'. Could even be operated by one family, sure.

    But in Germany much of the rental property is exactly that. Owned by corporations. Professional landlords and everyone knows the rules and plays by them. Tenant protections are much stronger. No begging for a tap to be fixed for fear you will get kicked out.

    Why for-profit corporations/"institutional investors" shouldn't have been allowed to mass-purchase rental properties in so many cities. They literally only care about making the highest possible short-term profits, which is the issue with pretty much every corporation these days.

    I keep wondering what the endgame is of making it too expensive to live. If you can’t own a house and can’t pay rent, how can society function? Even more mass incarceration and prison slave labor? Or are they literally unable to see past their quarterly profits?

    Corporations are buying 10s of thousands of homes and making them rental properties. People cannot compete against corporations to buy new homes
