Jay Sekulow and Mike Purpura are arguing the “facts” as though the Bolton bombshell hadn’t exploded. This displays incomprehensible argumentative ineptitude. Adapting to radically changed circumstances is the least that respect for one’s audience demands.

Twilight Zone impeachment hearing. President's lawyer Mike Purpura is laying out a narrative that everyone in that Chamber knows is directly contradicted by the person in the room where it happened.

  3. 27. sij

What Purpura is leaving out is all these issues of corruption and burden sharing were part of the policy review before they approved the disbursement of the aid. Trump blocked the aid even after that process was done. WH defense won't tell you that.

  4. The most amazing dynamic of the fantastic substantive facts Michael Purpura is laying out right now point by point by point is the way the Dems & their media allies acknowledge none of it. They just ignore all of these facts as if these many inconvenient truths don’t even exist.

  5. Mark Purpura lists three personal and direct invitations from to Zelensky to visit the White House, "all made without any preconditions." This is rather devastating to the House Democrats' case... especially as it comes from their own inquiry.

It is a strange thing to hear Purpura discuss the testimony of witnesses to various events when we don't know if he or Cipollone are themselves witnesses to those or related events.

  7. 27. sij

Listening to Purpura try to sell that the only reason a meeting never occurred between Trump and Zelensky because these types of meetings are complicated and difficult to arrange is so bad it's painful.

  8. Mark Purpura brings up the testimony from Tim Morrison, which indicates that the NSC *process* is what gave the "confidence" to approve the Ukraine aid, not any other factor. (Democrats said Trump only released the aid because he was "caught.")

  9. Purpura is noting that the defensive aid that Congress authorized and Trump approved for Ukraine was important and vital to its defense. Wow, imagine if someone threatened to withhold that aid or made it conditional on a political hit job against a Trump opponent. That'd be bad!

  10. *TRUMP'S BIZARRE DEFENSE, DAY TWO* 🔷 corrupt lawyer Bondi lectures on corruption 🔷 conflicted lawyer Hershmann lectures on conflicts of interest 🔷 Purpura lectures on no quid pro quo after Bolton confirms one 🔷 pro-impeachment lawyer Starr lectures on the evil of impeachment

Zelensky was ready to give a CNN interview but the Senate forced the WH to release the funds, and Taylor discouraged Zelensky from announcing any investigation on CNN. Do we think the Senators have done enough homework to know the facts that contradict Purpura's show. Not the Rs

  12. WH lawyer Purpura repeats a point from Saturday: called for aid to be withheld from a variety of other countries, not just Ukraine. Democrat House managers did not inform the Senate even though those facts come from *their* witnesses and record.

I for real can't tell the difference between GOP lawyers Philbin and Purpura unless their name is in the chyron at all times. I feel bad about this, until I remember that they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between me and Neil degrasse Tyson.

  14. PS2/ Moreover, Trump lawyer Purpura is LYING in saying that there was no discussion of the quid pro quo at the Pence-Zelensky meeting on September 1. In fact the ONLY testimony we have is that such a discussion *did* happen between SONDLAND and YERMARK (the top aide to ZELENSKY).

Purpura now saying that Ukrainians scheduled the inauguration only four days out on short notice and Rick Perry was intended to go, not Pence-says Pence being told to cancel is based on assumption. This is false-there is direct testimony about why Pence was forced to cancel.

Bring Pence up here - let him speak for himself under oath. Also, it would be nice if he told us he read what Jennifer Williams, his aide, informed him of he 7/25th call. Remember the Purpura complaint, why did she wait so long to come forward? Really?

  17. 27. sij

Zelensky asked VP Pence about the security funding - and Purpura puts that tape in the record, that contradicts what he represented was what the Pence meeting was all about.

  18. 27. sij

Mike Purpura says that the only reason Trump didn't meet with Zelensky was because of hurricane Dorian, even though we have direct, credible testimony that Pence was sent to Poland in Trump's place to make a point and deliver a message about Ukraine doing the investigations.

  19. 27. sij

Trump layer Purpura says no impeachment witnesses testified Trump said there was a link between the military aid withholding & the request for investigations.... says otherwise. And that's why he should testify. Seems Trump's team is just going to ignore this.

  20. 27. sij

Mike Purpura wants you to believe that the Ukrainian aid release had nothing to do with: 1. The whistleblower report going public 2. The media catching the story 3. The launched independent investigation into the WB report and the quid pro quo
