BREAKING: Deputy Trump counsel Philbin just told the Senate the "whistleblower" may have had a "conflict of interest" in filing his complaint, because he may have been involved in decisions on Biden & Burisma & may have had a "reason to deep-six" a rekindled Ukraine investigation

  2. Int he Senate trial, Philbin denied Trump demanded investigations of the Bidens. Which is just insanely false

Philbin is on thin ice when he says didn't ask for an investigation. That's exactly what he did and then repeated over and over again. He never denied it. Why is his lawyer denying it?

My day has not had enough Patrick Philbin yet. I'm not alone in this, right?

POTUS’ Legal Team, especially Patrick Philbin, is doing outstanding today in a whole other league of intellect, prep & facts/law on their side. Meanwhile, Schiff conceded right out of the gate this AM he can’t yet prove his case. Americans are ready for this to end!

  6. The other day, Mr. Philbin kept referencing “Impeachment: A Handbook." So I did some digging. Turns out, in that same book, the authors call conspiring with foreign governments to assist a campaign a HIGH CRIME.

  7. Just gross, speculative smears of the whistleblower by Pat Philbin right now. He has mostly been a fair advocate, but this is the second time he has done this, and it is a stain on his service.

Philbin notes that Democratic senators had sent a letter to Ukraine suggesting that support was tied to them helping Mueller go after Trump. And there's no proof of anything even like that for Trump case.

I think 9:00 pm is the hour during which Patrick Philbin's patience runs a little low, he gets tired of Schiff's mendacity and fabrications, and he starts to get a little bit testy. Happened last night, too.

Schiff is now completely humiliating Philbin's BS answer to the Logan act question. Schiff basically argues it is an (unintended) admission, Trump is guilty. Awesome stuff. Philbin made a major mistake. And Schiff is capitalizing.

  11. This Philbin character is shameless. He complains that the House didn’t present enough witnesses when the reason they didn’t was because Trump ordered the witnesses not to testify. These arguments are pure and utter nonsense!

Romney just threw a fastball directly at Philbin’s head: “On what specific date did Trump order the hold on security assistance to Ukraine, and did he explain the reason at the time?” Philbin:

Recall as you read this story that Trump attorney Patrick Philbin, asked about Giuliani's actions, said on the Senate floor: "I want to make clear that there was no conduct of foreign policy being carried out here by a private person."

  14. Sen Baldwin's question about why Jennifer Williams' supplemental testimony was classified elicits new info: Philbin says it's because it's based on the transcript of Pence's talk with Zelensky. Haven't both Trump & Pence called for the record of that conversation to be released?

  15. 30. sij

WOW! Adam Schiff is genius, catching Philbin off guard. If Rudy wasn’t violating the Logan Act by conducting foreign policy as a citizen, then Trump can’t claim to be being impeached for a policy decision. Instead it was for personal business.

Philbin has said twice now that while no new evidence is needed, if the Senate chooses to go down that route, they'd likely need to get that Atkinson testimony Schiff is hiding from senators and they'd definitely need answers on whistleblower and his coordination with Schiff.

  17. The rule of law is being shredded before our very eyes by Dreshowitz, Giuliani, Cipollone, Philbin, Bondi, Barr et al, and the legal profession’s professional organs are AWOL. Wake up! Your integrity, and our freedom, is on the line.

  18. 30. sij

Oops, Philbin seems to have fumbled the ball and Schiff ran it back for a touchdown

  19. 30. sij

Patrick Philbin is emerging as the most objective and knowledgeable voice in the trial in the Senate. Factual, measured, focused, and clear. Philbin is nearly impossible to rebut.

  20. I do not know Patrick Philbin, and I find a lot of his arguments at this trial revolting. I will, however, remind people hating on him today of another episode in his career: He played a key role in the famous “hospital room” showdown during the Bush administration.
