My coworkers are talking about the MTA protest happening today and how scared they are about it🙃🙃🙃 and before you even ask... yes. Yes they are.

This is such ineffective "activism". By engaging in "mass civil disobedience", vandalizing subway stations, shutting down trains, preventing commuters from getting to work, these anarchists are making a good case for why we need MTA police.

Can someone please explain to me the point of this protest? I legitimately don’t understand its roots. Are people unhappy they have to pay $2.75 for the use of the MTA?

one time the MTA machine ate $100 of mine and then broke and then i called the support number like 6 times and they told me to go fuck myself. i support the protests. FUCK new york city

literally not what they’re saying in the video, they’re calling for protests against having cops in the MTA. regardless of your stance on antifascism, this kind of fearmongering and disinformation-spreading is super dangerous — much more so than what is being advocated here.

Leave it to the incompetent planners of the police/subway protest to create more pay for the cops in the form of overtime and inconvenience the people who have no influence in how the system is run (the passengers) rather than those at MTA who can effect change.

Convinced my manager to let me leave because of the MTA protest

The real crime against tax payers is the MTA hiring 500 new cops at a cost of $250mm. Which is exactly what this protest is about. So if you care about your dollar, support this protest.

The context of the MTA/NYPD protests isn’t the fares. It’s the increasing criminalization of subway riders (funded by the Governor’s budget increase for MTA policing) that turns benign acts into potentially violent police encounters. It’s racist, neoliberal dog whistling.

Antifa wants No Fares, No Cops. If no fares, how will the MTA pay conductors? If no cops, women or men could be robbed or harmed. Children? If it’s free, where will the money come from, taxes? Protest taxes instead so you have money for that trip? I guarantee you’ll save more. 🤣

Mad respect to whoever took the opportunity to apply a ballistic shit onto an NYPD cop car in the midst of the MTA fare protests, this is what dedication to the cause looks like

I disagree, NYC has its own race problems. Some of the white libs I work with are truly insufferable. Yesterday I overheard a group of them mocking the MTA protests and pearl clutching that they were “inciting violence against cops”

as much as i support the mta protests, vandalizing train stations and making underpaid mta workers work more seems a little... counterproductive

These were the demands of the march in NYC last night. 1) Cops out of MTA 2) Free transit 3) End harassment 4) Full accessibility Local NYC media fearmongered before the protest & an army of cops were deployed to violently repress the protest & suppress this message.

what time is this mta protest starting? 😭

The and protests happening in NYC have the potential to transform into a true revolutionary movement. Racism, poverty and police terrorism are the foundation of the white power system. White people must stand in material solidarity with Black Power.

  18. i really am seeing people complain about the MTA protests on some “its just $2.75” bitch take an uber since you got it like that ?

I know "fuck the system" is such a facetious thing to say but I genuinely feel it. I witnessed the effects of over policing through tear gas first-hand yesterday. I can't participate in protests because I could get fired, because for all I know the NYPD or MTA is a client of 1/2

This protest about the trains is fucking ridiculous. If you owned a billion dollar company and wanted to protect the business from theft, what are you going to do? The MTA is a private ORG. IF THEY want the fair to be $5.. guess what?
