    Upon loading petertownsend(dot)info, one is greeted by a banner helpfully offering to sell a book. It seems likely that in addition to promoting anti-Islam rhetoric, these bots have the purpose of directing Twitter users to the site to drive book sales.

    Every single one of the most recent 3200 tweets from these five accounts contains a link. As shown in this chart, almost all of the links are to petertownsend(dot)info. By and large, the site contains anti-Islam posts. There is one more thing. . .

    These accounts repeat their tweets frequently - across the 3200 most recent tweets from all 5 accounts (16K tweets total), there are only 962 unique tweets. The most common are repeated 73 times in the timespan, and tweets are shared between accounts, including spelling errors.

    The accounts involved are , , , , and . All are automated via Hootsuite and tweet 24/7. is higher volume than the other four, which appear to be more or less identical to one another.

    Let's take a bit of a closer look at a group of automated accounts that were mentioned briefly in an old thread. 3 accounts crossed our radar at the time; there are at least 5 in the group, with follower counts ranging from 7K - 105K. cc:

    Moving on, apparently there's a dude named Peter Townsend in Australia who doesn't much like Muslims, and has automated three Twitter accounts (, , ) so he can tell the world how he feels.

    It's not unlikely that reportsecret(dot)com was itself an Internet Research Agency operation. Further detail in this thread:

    There's evidence to suggest that reportsecret(dot)com was itself linked to the Internet Research Agency. Its official account () was among the accounts identified as IRA accounts by Twitter and subsequently suspended. The related Facebook page is still online.

    Here are the media websites most frequently linked from IRA troll tweets about the Mueller investigation. A whopping 76% of the links are to reportsecret(dot)com, a now-defunct website that plagiarized content from TruthFeed news. One more thing. . .

    What topics come up in the IRA Mueller tweets? 57.6% of the tweets contain one or more of the terms shown in this chart. Trump/Russia/deep state categories are the most prominent; uranium, Seth Rich, and pizzagate are interesting inclusions.

    What does the earliest traffic look like? The first IRA tweet mentioning Mueller (from left-targeted account ) associates Mueller with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. Right-wing troll speculates that the investigation will go nowhere and name-drops .

    The petition trend is rather different. The tweets are largely identical, due to being generated by clicking a button on the petition website. There are also fewer of them (374 original tweets from 372 unique accounts at the time we checked).

    For this comparison to mean anything whatsoever, would need to compare that $100K to the *entire* budget for all Kremlin social media disinfo operations, not just the ads that formed a minor part of the overall picture. The IRA alone had a $1.25M monthly budget.

    We classified the 300 sites most frequently linked by the banned Internet Research Agency accounts as shown below. The "clickbait" category only makes up 4% of the total tweet volume, which pretty solidly debunks "commercial clickbait" as a description of the IRA's activities.
