    Upon loading petertownsend(dot)info, one is greeted by a banner helpfully offering to sell a book. It seems likely that in addition to promoting anti-Islam rhetoric, these bots have the purpose of directing Twitter users to the site to drive book sales.

    These accounts repeat their tweets frequently - across the 3200 most recent tweets from all 5 accounts (16K tweets total), there are only 962 unique tweets. The most common are repeated 73 times in the timespan, and tweets are shared between accounts, including spelling errors.

    For this comparison to mean anything whatsoever, would need to compare that $100K to the *entire* budget for all Kremlin social media disinfo operations, not just the ads that formed a minor part of the overall picture. The IRA alone had a $1.25M monthly budget.

    We classified the 300 sites most frequently linked by the banned Internet Research Agency accounts as shown below. The "clickbait" category only makes up 4% of the total tweet volume, which pretty solidly debunks "commercial clickbait" as a description of the IRA's activities.
