Ahead of impeachment Dershowitz said he was the Constitution’s lawyer. If that’s the case he has committed malpractice, shredding the Constitution to protect a president who isn’t worth it. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/alan-dershowitz-job-defend-constitution-president/story?id=68594220 …

Alan Dershowitz shredded Democrats' Impeachment Stunt arguments with scalpel-like precision. https://trib.al/JJbtY2z

"That is cray cray. If you are arguing the president wants to get reelected so anything he does towards that end is cool — that's just nutball."

Yesterday’s “I can’t believe this crap”, moments: Dude who impeached Clinton for lying re sex, complained re impeachment. Dershowitz 2020 vehemently argued against the lawyer formerly known as Dershowitz. We heard Giuliani was a “minor player”. Bondi argued against NEPOTISM!
-
Dershowitz boils down the Trump defense: "And if a president did something that he believes will help him get elected in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment.”
-
NEW: Trump lawyer Alan Dershowitz argues in the impeachment trial that a quid pro quo that benefits the president politically is fine because all politicians believe their elections are in the public's interest, and therefore, he has no corrupt motive. https://on.msnbc.com/2O8b9ij

Jeffrey Epstein’s lawyer defends
@realDonaldTrump. This argument is as absurd as the argument that you can’t commit a sex crime when you have your underwear on. Alan Dershowitz did a tremendous job last night speaking to the Senate His message: the Democrats have no case Because even if you ignore the evidence and give them the benefit of the doubt—even IF their allegations are true—this is not impeachment worthy
-
Alan Dershowitz presented the American people with a vision of Congress’s impeachment power that is sharply at odds with the Constitution, the deliberations of the Framers, and the history of impeachments. https://twitter.com/postopinions/status/1223325853863432192 …
-
Alan Dershowitz offered a proverbial Hail Mary—an ahistorical case for an impeachment standard unsupported by the Constitution’s text or the history of the impeachment power, and one that does not exonerate the president. The Senate must reject it. https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2020/01/31/justin-amash-dershowitzs-view-would-destroy-our-constitutional-system/ …

Dershowitz has helped ensure that the impeachment trial will leave Trump as a political OJ. Wrongfully acquitted. Guilty as hell. And everyone knows it.

My point is that these are complex issues and that the Framers did not intend impeachment for mixed motive decisions that contain an element of personal partisan benefit. (MTC)

UPDATE: I'm hearing from impeachment-trial watchers who are viewing the event on acid that Dershowitz is making perfect sense
-
Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz said his work for convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and rape accusations should not have prevented him from testifying before the House Judiciary Committee impeachment hearings.
-
I’m no constitutional expert, but I know my history well enough to know that Dershowitz is talking out of his butt about the framers’ being concerned about political parties weaponizing impeachment because they never contemplated political parties.
-
Alan Dershowitz unimpeached Richard Nixon today. All Nixon was doing was obstructing justice and abusing power because he thought he was the best person for the USA to be POTUS. When POTUS does it... etc. Seriously, that was his motive! Agree with Alan and impeachment is gone!
-
Alan Dershowitz pretends that if ANY abuse of power is impeachable then ALL abuses of power must result in impeachment, which would empower Congress over the president in a destabilizing way unintended by the framers. But clearly that isn’t the case.

48th question from
@Sen_JoeManchin for both, asks about Dershowitz changing his mind. Dershowitz: I did more research, changed my mind based on evidence. Issue in 1998 was not whether a crime happened. Notes he changed his mind 2 years before Trump impeachment#ImpeachmentTrial
