    In 2019, Protasevich moved back to Minsk until authorities arrested another opposition journalist Vladimir Chudentsov, prompting Protasevich and his parents to flee back to Poland. He began organizing protests amid the controversial 2020 presidential election in Belarus.

    Journalist was sentenced to 5,5 years in jail. He was arrested in 2019. Border patrol found marijuana in his luggage and later in his house. Friends and family of Vladimir claim that drugs were planted by police and his arrest is due to his political views
