#CocktailWednesday - 2℥ Sacred Old Tom, 1℥ triple sec, ½℥ lemon juice. Rather nice White Lady. -
In this time of crisis,
#CocktailWednesday retreats to the security of a Sidecar. I will not bore you with a recipe, but i will record that i used Pierre Ferrand Ambré. -
#CocktailWednesday resumes thanks to Grundig rapid freeze technology and the SidecarShow this thread -
One more time!
#CocktailWednesday. 2℥ Sainsbury's highland single malt, 1℥ Victory Bitter, 1℥ triple sec. Superb! The whisky is powerful enough to really stand up for the bitter, and has its own sort of orangey scent which knits it together.Show this thread -
Tweaking that a little more for
#CocktailWednesday: 2℥ Pusser's spiced, 1℥ Victory Bitter, 1℥ triple sec. Fine - this is less sweet and cakey than the Red Leg, which is good, but still very interesting, perhaps not as well-developed as the Mount Gay.Show this thread -
#CocktailWednesday: a Greenpoint (that's in Brooklyn, a friend got bass lessons from a junkie which she paid for in subway tokens there while at law school), 2℥ Buffalo Trace, ½℥ Chartreuse MOF, ½℥ Yzaguirre Reserva, 1♏︎ Jerry Thomas bitters, 1♏︎ orange bitters - very goodShow this thread -
#CocktailWednesday winds its neck in: 3℥ Havana Club 7, 1℥ St Germain, ⅓℥ lime juice. This almost works! This rum stands up to the elderflower better than most spirits, but it's still overly tilted towards the latter.Show this thread -
#CocktailWednesday again, 3℥ Martell Red Barrel, 2℥ moonshine tej, 1℥ Vecchio Amaro del Capo, very nice, largely doing that big gold ball thing where it just tastes nice and indistinct (even though there's no Antica Formula!), but with traces of wood and herb.Show this thread -
Attempted to tweak that for
#CocktailWednesday: 3℥ Havana Club 7, ½℥ St Germain, ⅓℥ lime juice. Doesn't work - not enough sweetness to rein in the sharpness of the lime juice.Show this thread -
#CocktailWednesday gets freaky, with 2℥ Sainsbury's highland whisky, 1℥ moonshine tej, ½℥ Chartreuse MOF, ¼℥ lemon juice; this time there is an unmistakeable but harmonious slap of liquorice. Still very nice.Show this thread -
#CocktailWednesday closes in on 2℥ Sainsbury's highland whisky, 1℥ moonshine tej, ½℥ Bénédictine, ¼℥ lemon juice; as good as the previous iteration, distinctly but still subtly more herbal.Show this thread -
Switching gear on
#CocktailWednesday: an Alaska, 2℥ Sacred Old Tom, 1℥ Chartreuse MOF, 2♏︎ orange bitters. This is really good. Maybe a little too sweet.Show this thread -
#CocktailWednesday 2℥ Mount Gay Eclipse, 1℥ King's Ginger, 1℥ sweet lemon juice. Reasonable, but lacking something. -
Looking up on
#CocktailWednesday: 2℥ Mount Gay Eclipse, 1℥ Victory Bitter, 1℥ triple sec (and some overhang from the spiced rum). This works rather well. Can't really explain why. Sugarcane light shining through a citrus-stained window onto mutant bitterness.Show this thread -
Another
#CocktailWednesday experiment. 2℥ Mount Gay Eclipse, 1℥ Tennessee Honey, 1℥ sweet lemon juice. Sweet lemons are nuts, the juice is barely acidic, a little bitter, and smells like lemon balm! The result is rather mild, not unpleasant, but not much to write home about. -
Proper
#CocktailWednesday, 2℥ Sainsbury's highland whisky, 1℥ moonshine tej, ½℥ Glayva, ¼℥ lemon juice - it's a cold toddy! This is rather good. Tried this without any liqueur and the mouthfeel was a bit thin, but this is perfect.Show this thread -
Refusing to let the terrorists win,
#CocktailWednesday continues with a Whisky Sidecar (which there is no specific name for?): 2℥ Sainsbury's highland single malt, 1℥ triple sec, ⅓℥ lemon juice. Very enjoyable - this is a seriously versatile mixing whisky. -
Old school
#CocktailWednesday: 2℥ Sainsbury's highland single malt, 1℥ tej, 1℥ Chartreuse MOF, ⅓℥ lemon juice; not sure what this is. It's very enjoyable, maybe going in too many directions. But genuinely a good result. -
Want to finish a bottle of vermouth so i can start the next one, so
#CocktailWednesday sees 2℥ Red Leg, 1℥ Yzaguirre Rojo Reserva. Simple but effective. Normally you would add bitters to a *hattan, but a spiced rum sort of already has bitters in, doesn't it?
