    This has been one of the worst periods of my life. A family friend has disappeared and is presumed dead, the anniversary of the massacre, I lost my cat, someone broke into my home... When will I get my break?! I can't do this anymore.

    Oct 9 marks 7 yrs since 's massacre in which 28 peaceful protesters were killed & hundreds injured during a protest against an Aswan church's demolition. Live ammo was used, APCs ran over demonstrators, media incited against innocent civilians. A dark, dark day.

    Seven yrs later, no high-ranking officials have been held accountable for the massacre. May those whose lives were stolen away from them rest in eternal peace and may we live to honor their memories every year in our words and in our actions.

    The neighborhood is named for French Egyptologist Gaston Maspero who helped found the Egyptian Museum. Developers have long eyed the central district, which is already home to the Foreign Ministry and the state television and radio building.
