    was notified of a sunken 40-foot boat near Farallon Islands Monday. USCG Air Station San Francisco and Sacramento aircrews performed search patterns and found no signs of distress or pollution. Mariners transiting the area should proceed with caution.

    The Coast Guard is encouraging boaters to remove snow and ice buildup from moored vessels, and to take safety precautions throughout winter. Accumulation of snow and ice on a vessel can reduce stability, cause property damage and pollution.
