    I was 14 when Mubarak became president - he was vice president to the assassinated Anwar Sadat - and 44 when Mubarak was forced to step down after revolution. I was a Reuters correspondent in Cairo from 1993-1998 and covered Mubarak extensively. Some memories to follow

    General has left no one affiliated with the revolution without punishment. His opponents are either detained, imprisoned (without charges), beaten in the streets, or killed (they die in their prisons). This lunatic must go.

    Since the revolution, activists from ’s community have rightfully demanded rights to their ancestral lands and a recognition of their cultural heritage. But it is not the responsibility of the victims of Egypt’s racism to end that racism.

    I’m pretty sure when Mubarak deployed the military against protestors in Tahrir Square during revolution, the NYT reported on it in a critical way. And here is that same NYT publishing a senator supporting Trump’s call to deploy the military. Dangerous and shameful

    J'étais un manifestant dans les rues d' en 2011. J'étais en colère contre l'injustice également et après 9 ans j'ose dire que nous les manifestants, les oppressés deviendrions toujours les victimes même si ça semble victoire!

    Resist and refuse words like “chaos” and “riot” about people demanding justice and an end to oppression. During one of my CNN appearances in the early days of revolution, I insisted they stop using “Chaos in Egypt” as a chyron. They changed it to “Uprising in Egypt.”

    Today marks the day in 2011 when longtime dictator Hosni Mubarak was forced to step down after 18-day revolution. Two of the revolution’s goals were an end to police brutality & an end to the military-backed regime. Neither of those goals have been achieved, yet.
