    and ‘18 followed the lead of making real efforts to promote diversity in speakers/chairs/panels. It takes one act to shake up the status quo and give lesser-heard people a chance. They then show they’re awesome - and get invited to speak elsewhere. Boom!

    As a non-intensivist, I was struck by a meeting that engages with it's delegates, educates beyond the conference, reaches out to other specialties and strives for excellence. I was impressed. And hope to take those lessons into my own specialty

    As an SHO I was taught by a consultant that time spent chatting with doctors from other specialties and building relationships was time well spent. Explicit permission to do this benefitted my patients and made it easier to get work done.

    Above-cuff vocalisation can help speech and motivation in those you can't put the cuff down - we use it at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and seems to help.
