    It doesn’t matter whether Walter Wallace Jr. had a knife or not. The job of the police is to deescalate not murder. The only time they seem to be able to do this is when it’s a white a suspect.

    This is Walter Wallace Jr., who police shot killed in Philadelphia yesterday. He was 27 years old and the father of three children. Rest in power, Walter.

    Racism exists. Systemic racism exists. We can't in good faith ignore the things happening right now and deny it. From propaganda photos, to murders, to cover ups and lawsuits by those who committed those murders --this isn't a trend. The fight is ongoing.

    Who was kept safe by this? What a waste of resources. Imagine this. What if, instead of spending money on police to criminalize people who are protesting housing insecurity...the city...I dunno...just spitballing here...funded housing security?

    GR city commission seeks to use $500K of COVID relief aid to implement so GRPD can surveil gunshots in 4 sq. mi. of a 45.63 sq. mi city. As we demand , the commission moves forward with spending aid $$$ on technology ineffective for crime prevention.

    William Wallace Jr. should've been met with caring mental health professionals who connected him with services and comforted his family. But 911 only sends police. Tell to and invest in emergency first responders who can deescalate.
