Anthony Veasna So's Afterparties explores what it means to be Cambodian.
Through a collection of short stories, So reclaims the complexity of words like “diaspora” and “refugee” and “survivor.”and shows us how we can only know ourselves through our community.

There’s a kind of Sisyphean irony throughout these stories, but the absurdity of the moment doesn’t deter the characters.
Update: down to 8 books! Finished off “Afterparties” by Anthony Veasna So. This book was made up of a collection of short stories that reflect generational trauma through the lens of Cambodian-Americans in California. Good read—3stars from me!
