    Definitely a great option if custom domains go away. I'm hoping considers adding support for custom domains. Their writing experience beats Medium's.

    Medium stopping new custom domains is a bit of a worry - not sure I have the energy to migrate and elsewhere when they decide to stop supporting existing ones as well..

    I got grandfathered into a custom domain with medium. Soon after I got it, they sunset the program. If I couldn't have my own domain for my blog posts, I wouldn't be posting to medium. If medium ever collapses, I can redirect traffic to my own (gatsby probably) blog site.

    Without custom domains, publishing on Medium is a terrible idea for longevity.

    Yes. I skimmed over this, but Medium no longer allows new custom domains. So if we started today the url would be not great. So no, the future is not publications
