Maybe try a 30 day challenge instead of New Year's resolutions? https://www.ted.com/talks/matt_cutts_try_something_new_for_30_days/ … For December, my 30 day challenge was to avoid sugar. I wasn't perfect, but I'm pretty happy with how it went. For January, I'm going to stay off social media/Twitter as much as I can.

One of my 30-day challenges this month is to cut out added sugar. If you see me with a piece of candy, slap it out of my hand and shout "Matt, you promised!"

I think my 30 day challenge for May will be "something something catch up on email mumble mumble" It's still a little hazy. :) https://www.ted.com/talks/matt_cutts_try_something_new_for_30_days …

My 30 day challenge for April was to write 30 cards. I still have a few to do. I liked this challenge because it gave me a chance to stop and tell a few people that I'm thankful for them. And to wish a few people happy birthdays and anniversaries. https://www.ted.com/talks/matt_cutts_try_something_new_for_30_days …

Instead of resolutions, try 30 day challenges: - they're more achievable - base each challenge on how busy the month looks or what you need/want - you get to try 12 experiments instead of one! I turned on the radio and heard
@SimoneGiertz talking about the joy of building useless things: https://www.npr.org/2018/11/16/668359548/simone-giertz-what-can-making-useless-robots-teach-us-about-joy … Now she's building a useful thing for 30 or 365 day challenges: light days up as you finish. Under three days left in her Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/simonegiertz/the-every-day-calendar … -
Welcome to November! Anything new you've wanted to try? Maybe give it a shot as part of a 30 day challenge? https://www.ted.com/talks/matt_cutts_try_something_new_for_30_days … For example, National Novel Writing Month: https://nanowrimo.org/ Or it can be as easy as not shaving for November: https://us.movember.com/

If you like 30 day challenges, you'll love this new Kickstarter project by Simone Giertz: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/simonegiertz/the-every-day-calendar … It helps you track daily "gold stars" on a goal you set. I'm totally getting one of these!

Is there a habit that would be for your mental health? Something new you'd like to try? Why not try a 30 day challenge? https://www.ted.com/talks/matt_cutts_try_something_new_for_30_days/ … This month I'm a vegetarian on weekdays!
-
Very cool! My 30 day challenge this month is going vegetarian on weekdays!

Apparently, my *actual* 30 day challenge for August is to not answer any emails and then see how badly things break.
-
dude. I think we might have hit on a REALLY GOOD 30 DAY CHALLENGE
-
July 31st is a great time to ponder a new 30 day challenge. What would you like to try or accomplish in the next 30 days?
-
sorry for not replying sooner; I'm on not-much-Twitter 30 day challenge. Drop me a note at mcutts with the domain http://omb.eop.gov ?

My 30 day challenge this month is to use https://pi-hole.net/ to block a few time-wasting sites. Expect fewer tweets as a result. More about my 30 day challenges: https://www.ted.com/talks/matt_cutts_try_something_new_for_30_days …

Looking forward for the next 30 days, is there some habit you'd like to try on for size? They can be nurturing. My next 30 day challenge is to take an hour of personal time each night before bed to recharge. https://www.ted.com/talks/matt_cutts_try_something_new_for_30_days …
-
My wife thinks my next 30 day challenge should be getting more sleep. Agree or disagree? What do you think I should do instead?
-
My 30 day challenge for January 2017 is to stay away from social media and news, but I'll still drop by from time to time to mention stuff that interested me.

Hey man, it's been since August or something: https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=default&q=30%20day%20from%3Amattcutts&src=typd … The New Year is when people need to a reminder :) Just for that, I'm going to tweet about 30 day challenges extra hard for a while ;)
