Here’s a brain dump on how I think about creating content. My secret to high output is ensuring I’m always in one of the five stages.

Create Content Consistently: 1. Make a list called “Topic Ideas”. 2. Add topics whenever you get an idea. 3. Steal ideas from everything you consume. 4. Schedule a consistent time to create content. 5. Show up, choose an item on the list, and make it.

Four years ago, I decided to take off 2020 as a sabbatical year to travel the world. We moved out of our house at the end of January. Without a house or car, we set off to see the world with nothing but backpacks. A month later, the pandemic hit.

It's much better to develop the habits of writing consistently and maintaining healthy cashflow. Bursts look sexy and feel productive, but doing less—more consistently—wins every time.

I am guilty of exactly this kind of all-or-nothing thinking. I've written 55,614 words in a single day... ...and then written nothing for weeks. I've made $177,803 on a launch... ...and then struggled with cashflow in other months of the year.

We tend to overvalue bursts and undervalue consistency.

Micro Copy: Where are you missing opportunities to reduce friction? Example: Your Calendly event description boxes. Look for places to anticipate your prospect's thoughts and appeal to their desires.

Person A starts with an ask: They're seen as a TAKER. Person B starts with a gift: They're seen as a GIVER. Person A asks again: They're ignored. Person B asks in the second conversation: They're seen as a GIVER asking for a favor. Your first act brands you as GIVER or TAKER.
