    It's a sign of how crazy the news cycle is right now that the United States three days ago barred immigration from the largest economy in Africa--a quarter of the continent's population is now barred from the US--and almost nobody is talking about it.

    I'm amazed that politicians and the media haven't agreed on a deal where the first contest is in Hawaii so everyone gets to spend a few months in Hawaii every four years.

    NEW: A Task Force report says that it "does not recommend that UC make standardized tests optional for applicants at this time." The finding is a blow to critics of standardized testing being used as part of the admissions process.
