Instead of shutting down IRC, it'd be beautiful if @mozilla instead were to choose to improve it for everyone.

For better or worse it’s been long since tools used by Mozilla internally are detached from product decisions and the mission. See also:

Oh I know. I was extremely worried when teams starting shifting internally to Slack. I refused. It's likely a part of the reason IRC is in disrepair.

At this point I think open communication would likely be better served if Mozilla jumped on the Matrix bandwagon (or Zulip).

Yea, I perhaps should retract the IRCv3 suggestion. I don't care about the exact protocol chosen, just that it's open and good.
