Many people rightly raise concerns on exam results with: - BOYS lower results than GIRLS; - WHITE working class boys lower results than BAME boys. Fewer ask the obvious follow up question: How is it on lower exam results white boys are still more likely to find employment?

When is this "Upcoming government summit to tackle drug-related deaths in the UK.” as mentioned by a 'UK Government' spokesperson? I'd like an invite!

Seems fitting I write this today after an agonising 10 days. 10 days ago I had the call every parent dreads, the one from the police. My beautiful daughter, a student at Leeds Uni, had been found in her flat in Leeds by her flat mates. She had taken her own life.

The 13th February 2020, starts our parent support group, families across the West Midlands, who have tragically lost due to serious violence. This group is a safe/brave space to heal and restore some sort of normality with those that really understands. For who feels it know it.

Please be assured our concept of 'trauma' is absolutely NOT an individual/pathologising lens. It's 100% about understanding CYP/families in context of social relationships, experiences, better supporting our workforce & not creating systems that inadvertently re-perpetuate trauma

“Not for the likes of us” “We couldn’t afford it” “We don’t need to be looking at books, we go out and graft, that’s what we do” These are the things that no1 in particular said 2 me, but get like an ingrained monologue of truths. So 12 yrs ago I dropped out of edu. But I’m back!

Today I delivered a talk to Birmingham CPS. Covering the experiences faced by families in the Criminal justice system following traumatic loss from youth violence. Informing on how the CJS respond better to families. Vicarious trauma impacts them when working on complex cases.

What we learned in 2018: - People are still buying their drugs off strangers at festivals, increasing risk. - High purity cocaine and high strength pills are of major concern. - Polysubstance use is widespread. - N-ethylpentylone is seriously scary.

Still haunted by my GCSE German speaking exam when the examiner asked what I liked doing and I said reading and she asked what books I liked and I panicked and said the name of the only book I knew the title of in German. Yeah, that one.

A UK police and crime commissioner has said “Individuals are cultivating cannabis because the UK Government will not support widespread prescribing of medicinal cannabis by the NHS. It’s cruel and inhumane for people to be criminalised for being very ill.”

There were 4,359 deaths due to drug poisonings in England and Wales in 2018, up 16% on 2017. The overdose reversing drug Naloxone can play a vital role in saving lives. But it needs to be more widely available amongst friends and peers of drug users.
