The points system should correlate with people's ability to find work. If the evidence shows a science degree does that, give it more points

Why? There are all kinds of reasons to immigrate. The reason why "ability to find work" is placed on such a pedestal eludes me.
-
It's not about reasons to immigrate. It's about reasons to take immigrants.
-
That's a false dichotomy - the topic of immigration is unduly focused on the latter, and very nationalistic. Point systems bear this out.
-
That's what I'm saying. That's what the point system is about.
-
The point system is fundamentally based on economic benefits. But reasons to immigrate and reasons to take immigrants are much broader.
-
It throws away most of all these other reasons to myopically focus on economic benefit to the United States.
-
However, I infer from your reply that you are fine with this nationalistic, myopic goal!

Should physics and computer science degrees count same as performance/visualize art degrees?

The idea that ANY degree should count more toward being allowed to immigrate is dopey. We don't become special fancy humans through college.

And ironic given that the US government seems to have turned its back on science (when it doesn't like the answers it gives)

Often science/humanities/arts interact. Try explaining to USCIS that literary structure can be quantified

Agreed. Plenty of non scientist US citizens. Even some who are complete a-holes but still citizens.
