Too much to talk about with Sir Roger! We mostly chatted about spacetime and black holes, but made sure to leave some time to think about quantum mechanics and consciousness at the end.

Back to the future, what is the "memory of spacetime"? How can spacetime return after its orginal "state" after shaking, whirling, dragging or stirring it? Is the current state a remembrance of a state in the future?

Wonderful discussion, thank you. Lots of questions, but I am curious about a statement made by Penrose, "... there are certain things outside computation.", but no example was given. Do you, or does anyone know of a process which does not evolve computation (at some level)?

Sure. The fact that the universe expands is an aspect of the fact that spacetime is curved. It’s the expansion that leads to redshift.

I really enjoyed this one. I also can now forgive him for his book on consciousness as I understand his motivations better. This one is a keeper to listen to more than once. BTW, your interviewing skills were superlative in this one.
