And to be clear, Boudin is indeed delivering on his policy agenda wrt. reducing incarceration and investigating police officers. But those policies are not making our city a safer place, as he claims they should.

This data is tricky for me. AFAIK the larceny # is mostly driven by car break-ins & bike theft, which are down because tourism and going places is down due to COVID When you look at the data without larceny, things looks don't look great.pic.twitter.com/0v6vFmOgr0

"Exclude the largest volume category" is not the way that I would generally approach this analysis (or any analysis), but the COVID context makes it feel appropriate. Curious how you might think about it, though.

I can empathize with that argument. If I were to project, I think Chesa's argument here would be something like, "Decades of unjust criminal justice policies can't be reversed within 1 year. We are just laying the ground work and we must persevere to see the progress."

Though, I tend to be allergic to this type of argument. Multi-stage plans that don't drive actual progress at each stage are very risky. My experience in business is that it usually doesn't work. While your point is valid, I think we will likely disagree here.
