Used to be annoyed when this guy’s singing would wake me up at 6am on a Saturday but have become strangely endeared to it. He’s a neighborhood staple, goes around singing blessings and brings some eccentricity to a city trending toward yuppie sameness

Dylan’s propensity to radically rework his material doesn’t always work (anyone see him in concert lately?) but when it does...*chef’s kiss.*

"Idealism is effective only when it understands how power operates—particularly when it recognizes the limits of American power." Excellent by Ivan Krastev & Leonard Benardo, grappling w/ Samantha Power, Bill Burns, and the future of U.S. foreign policy.

“optimism can be a weakness, too, and hope should be rooted in candor. How are we supposed to know the proper mix when we see it? Who can survey the terrain of our lives and tell us where to look? Who, in short, can teach us the art of hoping well?”
